Just because it has a seal on it, doesn’t mean the bottle is sealed shut… This is an expression in the bottle collecting world about the applied bit of glass on the side of the bottle. So the term ” sealed wine bottle or wine bottle with a seal ” has NOTHING to do with the top mouth of the bottle. So just to make it clear the bottle is EMPTY. This is an antique empty dark olive green glass wine bottle from the early 19th Century due to the fact its been made using a Ricketts Patent 3 piece mould and then has the hand applied seal just below the shoulder. It is a standard cylindrical wine bottle shape with a very nice hand applied top mouth string rim. The 3 piece bottle mould was patented in 1821 so the bottle is from that sort of late Georgian Regency period. See the base does not have any makers marks or embossing. It has a hand applied glass seal on the front with the Earl of Mount Edgcumbe – LIVERY Crest which is a Boar pig and the Earl’s CROWN above. There have been a number of Earl’s of Mount Edgcumbe and the 3rd & 4th Earl do cross over during this period. No wonder they had wine bottles with their own family LIVERY crest seal’s on them being British politicians and other grand title jobs for England’s Royal family. No maker’s marks etc. I’ll just reiterate that this bottle is EMPTY, it has no liquid in it at all. It is mucky inside and I have not attempted to clean it out. Please take note of the close up pictures where you can clearly see through the glass onto the white background and there is NO LIQUID inside. In collectable condition with normal signs of age and use wear. There is an impact mark on the inner edge of the top rim and this has made a small crack but no chip. There are some fabulous air bubbles in the glass.. Its full of them…. Its mucky inside as well. Please see pictures for more details and visual confirmation of condition. This bottle in an Ex Chris Crabtree glass collection bottle with his inventory number on the base 562. 11 inches tall x 3 and 1/2 inches in diameter on the base. If you are a bottle collector of only top mint condition bottles then this is probably not for you. It will suit someone that is into LIVERY CREST – PEERAGE Armorial collections better. Scale is usually an English 1 penny coin which is 20mm in diameter which is just short of 7/8ths of an inch in diameter. MY TERMS AND CONDITIONS. In the title or description it means. So just to make it clear the bottle is EMPTY. This is an antique moulded wine bottle that is branded Wynand Fockink, Amsterdam on the embossed base. If you were to look at this bottle on a shelf though you would think it was free blown… Look at the really fabulous long LADIES LEG neck and string rim which is very crude and very free blown like. The bottle does NOT have any seams but you can see the cylinder is very good and the base is moulded. Really nice striations in the neck where its been formed when made.. These areas have slight ” sickness ” at one side… This grey scaly stuff does scrape off with a thumb nail but I think its going to stain the glass where its been. In collectable condition with normal signs of age and use wear. The top rim is chipped in a couple of places but no other chips or cracks in the glass from what I can see. There are some light scuffs and small impacts marks on the surface as well as some sickness and discolouration. Mucky inside and the liquid has dried leaving tide residue in places. There are some manufacturing faults like bubbles etc. Please see pictures for more details and visual confirmation of condition. If you google this company you will see LATER examples with this ” ladies leg ” long neck and the mouths are much better finished off unlike this bottle which is very crude and hand applied like made. 12 and 1/2 inches tall and approx. Scale is usually an English 1 penny coin which is 20mm in diameter which is just short of 7/8ths of an inch in diameter. MY TERMS AND CONDITIONS. In the title or description it means.
